Budgets stay flat, costs keep rising, and the list of tools only gets longer. The challenge of doing more with less hasn’t changed since I started in tech — if anything, it’s only grown sharper.
When I first started in tech in the mid-2000s, the phrase “we need to do more with less” came up within my first week. For someone just beginning a sales career, it was unsettling — it reminded me of Tony Soprano’s quote: “But lately, I’m getting the feeling that I came in at the end. The best is over.”

As organisations have one eye on their FY27 budget the use of open source software is an option they should be seriously considering to help them achieve their technical outcomes but also stay within their budget requirements.
